In 2017 Pace Productivity completed some research with sales reps. They looked at how the average sales rep spent their time working 50 hours a week. We think the results will surprise you.
- 4% of their time was spent doing miscellaneous things.
- 6% of their time was spent eating lunch and on breaks.
- 10% of their time was used planning the week and their visits.
- Another 10% of their time was spent on actual ‘service’ of customers.
- 12% of their time each week they were processing orders.
- Travel took up 13% of their week.
- 22% of their week was spent selling the products to customers.
- Nearly a quarter of their week, 23%, was spent doing admin work.
Now you can see where lots of your sales rep time is spent, and potentially wasted. There are some areas you can give them back time. However, some areas they need that time.
